NBNCo
Launched in 2009, nbn (National Broadband Network), was created to connect Australia with a faster and more reliable high-speed broadband network with wholesale local access. nbn’s strategic objective is to ensure all Australians have access to a reliable broadband as quickly as possible; at affordable prices and at minimum overall cost.
To realize this goal, nbn is rolling out fibre-optic, fixed wireless and satellite infrastructure to replace the existing broadband infrastructure. This provides services on its local access network on equivalent terms to all Retail Service Providers (RSPs), to cater for end-user needs. The intention is to level the playing field in Australian telecommunications, providing enhanced choice for consumers and genuine competition within the industry.
