PIPE Networks
PIPE Networks is widely acknowledged as one of the most innovative telecommunications carrier operating within Australia and internationally. Since 2002, they have deployed one of the largest metropolitan optic fibre networks in the country, the latest international submarine cable system, and the largest Internet eXchange (IX).
PIPE Networks continue to transform the Australian telecommunications industry with a wide-ranging network coverage, competitive and market-leading products, and world-class dedication to customer service.
PIPE Networks began life as IX Services Australia Pty Ltd in 2001, and formally commenced operations in 2002 when it launched it’s first Internet eXchange peering point. The company is now Australia’s largest peering provider and operates over 30 IX points in six cities, with over 300 active connections.
In 2002 PIPE Networks acquired a Telecommunications Carrier License, allowing them to connect its peering points with its own optic fibre network. Following this fibre installation, substantial demand was recognised from wholesale, corporate and government organisations seeking direct access to unlit or “dark” fibre.
